Employee healthcare

We're not an insurance company — and we'll often tell you not to bother

A lot of clients ask us — often as part of recruitment or an EOR arrangement — to make sure their employees in a given country have private health insurance. Our honest advice is usually not what you'd expect.

Our actual position

We often try to talk clients out of it

They're already paying mandatory employer social charges that include very good health services — 46% of gross remuneration in France, 39% in Italy, 31% in Sweden, to give a few examples. In a lot of countries, private cover on top is a genuine duplication, not a genuine benefit.

But if the client still wants health insurance, we make sure we provide it — whether or not they use any of our other services. We've recently set clients up with this in Egypt, Oman, and Malawi.

Where this comes together

Usually arranged alongside

Healthcare and benefits questions almost always come up during Employer of Record setup or as part of ongoing HR advice — if you're at that stage already, this is folded in rather than a separate conversation.
